Care Guide
Last updated July 2026
Full-grain leather is resilient and durable, but it still benefits from proper care. Thoughtful cleaning, storage, and protection will help the leather maintain its condition over time.
Below are our recommended guidelines for everyday care.
1. Leather Textures
Smooth Leather A smooth surface reveals the texture and condition of the leather more directly, but it is also more susceptible to fine marks. Contact with a fingernail or hard object may leave an impression on the surface.
Light scratches may become less noticeable with regular use. For deeper marks, please contact an Advisor so the atelier can recommend the appropriate care.
Grained Leather Leather with a raised texture, such as pebbled leather, is generally more resistant to wear and less likely to show light scratches, making it well suited to everyday use.
To remove dust from within the grain, use a dry, soft cloth and wipe gently in the direction of the texture. Do not use a stiff brush, as it may damage the leather’s surface.
2. Everyday Cleaning
For everyday dusting, use only a dry, very soft cotton cloth.
Avoid contact with hand cream, perfume, alcohol, or disinfecting solvents. Oils and alcohol may affect the leather’s color.
Please also be mindful of the bag’s structure and weight capacity. Prolonged overloading may place unnecessary strain on the leather and the base of the bag.
3. Water Exposure
If a small amount of water comes into contact with the leather, gently blot it with a soft cloth. It will usually dry without leaving a visible mark.
If the piece is caught in the rain, blot away the surface moisture and allow it to air-dry in a cool, well-ventilated place. Do not use a hair dryer, heater, or direct sunlight to speed up the process. Sudden heat may stiffen the leather fibers and lead to cracking.
If a water mark remains after the leather has fully dried, please contact an Advisor rather than attempting an unverified treatment.
4. Color Transfer
Light-colored leather is particularly susceptible to color transfer that may be difficult to reverse.
Avoid prolonged friction with dark denim or fabrics with unstable dyes. When wearing these materials, keep the bag from rubbing directly against the fabric whenever possible.
5. Sunlight and Heat
Prolonged exposure to ultraviolet light may accelerate fading, drying, and the aging of the leather.
Do not leave your piece in a sun-heated car or on an unshaded windowsill. Enclosed, high-temperature environments may affect both the leather and the gold-plated hardware.
6. Storage
When your piece is not in use:
- Store the strap carefully so that neither the strap nor its hardware presses against the leather and leaves a lasting impression.
- Fill the bag with soft, acid-free tissue paper or clean padding to help maintain its shape and structure.
- Place the piece in its dust bag and store it upright in a cool, dry location.
- Do not stack heavy objects on top of the bag or seal it in plastic. The leather should remain properly ventilated.
- For longer periods of storage, take the piece out occasionally and allow it to air.
7. Hardware Care
Our hardware is made from stainless steel and finished with 24K gold plating. Wipe it gently with a dry, soft cloth to help maintain its luster.
If the hardware shows signs of oxidation or becomes dull over time, please contact an Advisor. Do not use polishing compounds or chemical cleaners, as they may affect the plated finish.
When storing the piece, keep the hardware away from keys and other hard or sharp objects that may cause scratches.
We recommend removing the original protective film only after you are certain that you will not need to return or exchange the piece. The protective film must remain intact for the piece to qualify for return.
